APWA Membership – What Does It Mean For You?

APWA is a highly participatory organization with hundreds of growth and leadership opportunities. Network-Share Expertise

Members are the strength of any association and by joining APWA, you
immediately tap into a network of thousands of public works experts from the U.S. and internationally to share on-the job experiences, to request information on public works issues, discuss local and national topics of concern, to work together to improve processes and to discover new job possibilities. Enhance Your Expertise

Educational training is the best investment you can make in yourself and
your career. By advancing your skills, you improve your performance, and your value to your employer. APWA offers a variety of unique educational programs and self-study materials covering the many aspects of public works. You can choose programs by topic or by your preferred educational medium. APWA's educational opportunities include 2-4 day instructor-led workshops, audio-web conferences (called Click, Listen, and Learn virtual workshops), as well as a selection of text-based courses that are intended for purchase by a chapter or organization wishing to teach a particular topic of interest. Training is available on everything from fleet management to construction inspection and basic supervision programs. In addition, most APWA-sponsored programs provide the opportunity to earn your Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and a record of your personal CEU history is maintained in the APWA database.

APWA continues to be a leading advocate promoting the interests of the
public works community at all levels of government (local, state and federal). APWA's government affairs and public policy advocacy is a member-driven program with numerous opportunities for participation. As a member you can commit yourself to being a collective voice that ensures that legislation, regulations and governmental policy decisions support the value and necessity of public works infrastructure and services. APWA Governmental Affairs program is also the best resource when it comes to keeping you up-to-date on legislative and regulatory changes and putting you in touch with key contacts at the local, state, federal and provincial levels. In addition, APWA can help you with outreach to your customers and to develop relationships with your community.

Some local chapters hold annual conferences offering opportunities to display and/or discuss your products and services. Both annual national meetings, the International Public Works Congress and Exposition and the North American Snow Conference offer opportunities to expose your products and services to a public works professionals from the US, Canada, and abroad.
