How Are Papers Selected? (back to top)
To ensure that a balanced array of the best presentations are offered, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by a peer review committee of accomplished professionals from diverse public works backgrounds, using the criteria described below. The evaluation process is competitive —approximately 50% of submissions get selected. Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated on the following criteria:
  • Overall quality (focus and content)
  • Uniqueness or innovativeness of the topic
  • Practical application to the public works industry
  • Timeliness of the topic
  • All persons submitting proposals will be notified by November 1, 2008 of the selection or rejection of their proposal. It is the responsibility of the primary person submitting the proposal to notify all speakers regarding the status of the proposal. Due to the large number of proposals received, we cannot specifically list reasons for rejection.
Deadline (back to top)
Submit one copy of the completed Proposal Submission Form to arrive no later than September 5, 2008.
Fees (back to top)
Presenters at APWA's North American Snow Conference are also considered attendees and will be expected to pay their own travel expenses and the conference registration fee.
