Description:	Work Zone Safety Beyond Cones and Barrels Just because that pothole, light pole installation, water line repair or tree trimming operation is only going to take an hour or two, doesn�t mean considerations for public and worker safety should be taken lightly. Learn some key steps to determining how short-term work zone safety areas should be set up including what situations warrant a flagger, when to close lanes down, and whether or not to route a detour. See specific examples of work zone set-ups gone awry, and how they should be fixed. Also, get tips on how to manage your training needs to meet with MUTCD regulations. This 2-hour program is appropriate for public works street crews as well as water, sewer, and other utility maintenance crews. Speaker:	Catherine Witt Ms. Witt originally started in the Traffic Safety industry with SAFE-T-FLARE Rental Services in KC, MO responsibilities included installation, on site design, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices in accordance with the Federal MUTCD. After leaving SAFE-T-FLARE rental Services she went to the Traffic Engineering Division for the City of Overland Park KS. Responsibilities included design, plan review, inspection, technical writing and the training of the street maintenance crews. "I simply fell in love with training while at the City of Overland Park, KS. This is a very serious topic and one that is so important to peoples safety", states Ms. Witt. From the City of Overland Park, KS Ms. Witt left to become an instructor for American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA). Currently a Master Instructor for ATSSA training several thousand Designers, DOT personnel, City and other local gov't agency, and contractors nation wide every year.
Speaker:	Scott Wolf Scott is the National Sales Manager at INCOM, Inc. He is responsible for helping utility companies and other agencies like, cities and municipalities, nationwide with compliance issues related to work zone traffic control. He has 17 plus years experience working with electrical and telephone utilities on safety related topics. Scott received his B.A. from Hobart College in 1986 - Economics. He is an American Traffic Safety Services Association Certified Work Zone Traffic Technician, National Safety Council Trainer. Scott has trained several thousand utility linemen/technicians and city employees on Work Zone Traffic Control.
