| Description: |
The road to green is about minimizing the long-term impact of public works operations on the environment while enhancing organizational effectiveness. This webcast series will help you identify opportunities to embed concepts into your organization and create a vision of sustainability for the future.
The Capital Regional District (CRD) is the regional government that provides wastewater management to residential, commercial, industrial and institutional customers throughout the Core Area and West Shore communities of the Victoria region of Canada. When the CRD was tasked with developing a new wastewater management strategy, they decided to take a “Clean Sheet” approach and started with a survey of worldwide trends. What they discovered was a shift in direction from the traditional view that wastewater was something to be disposed of as cheaply as possible to one that considered wastewater a key component of urban resource management.
In the second hour we will provide an overview of the USEPA CSO program and a discussion of emerging trends of integrated planning and management as they relate to the use of green infrastructure and solutions; low-impact development; sustainable infrastructure and smart growth.
After viewing this program, participants will be better able to:
* Conceptualize and explain the value of the use of green solutions * Explain the “emerging approach” to CSO abatement * Describe how a proactive integrated management approach would use green infrastructure and solutions
This program has been approved for .2 CEUs or 2 PDHs. The form to request these credits is included in the handouts for this program. Please note there is a $5 fee per individual requesting CEUs.
