Safety Engineer, Federal Highway Administration, Baltimore, Maryland

Dean M. Larsen, P.E. is a Traffic Safety Engineer with the Federal Highway Administration’s Resource Center in Baltimore, MD. Mr. Larsen has been with FHWA for 18 years, previously working as the liaison engineer to NHTSA Region 3, the FHWA Region 3 traffic safety engineer, and as an Area Engineer in the D.C. and Maryland Division Offices. Mr. Larsen has his BSCE from the University of Florida, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Florida.

Safety/Geometric Design Engineer, Federal Highway Administration, Baltimore, Maryland

John McFadden, Ph.D., P.E., PTOE is a Safety and Geometric Design Engineer with the Federal Highway Administration’s Resource Center in Baltimore, MD. Mr. McFadden has worked for the Federal Highway Administration’s Office of Safety Research and Development. His primary duties included: managing safety and highway asset management related research projects; and conducting staff research studies with the goal of quantifying the safety effects of low cost safety improvements. Prior to joining FHWA, John served as an Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama.
