Description: With today’s economic climate, reduced funds available, and unfunded mandates to reduce emissions, today’s fleet services manager must think outside the box to ensure adequate funding.

Speakers will share what they’ve learned regarding grants available through the EPA, DOE, Clean Cities and other non-traditional sources.

After viewing this session, participants will be better able to:
* Identify sources for potential funding
* Communicate creative ways other agencies have secured outside funding
* Partner with other agencies to leverage funding

This program has been approved for .2 CEUs or 2 PDHs. The form to request these credits is included in the handouts for this program. Please note there is a $5 fee per individual requesting CEUs.

Speaker: Bill Droessler

Senior Director of Strategic Project Planning
Minnesota Environmental Initiative

The Minnesota Environmental Initiative (MEI) coordinates Project Green Fleet, which is a partnership driven effort to reduce pollution from diesel vehicles like school buses, heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment and locomotives. The project has resulted in:1,800 cleaner, greener school buses serving over 180,000 Minnesota students, over 400 heavy-duty diesel engines with retrofitted or repowered engines that emit less pollution after participation in Project Green Fleet and exposure and emission reductions of fine particulate matter, hydrocarbons and pollutants that contribute to the formation of smog

Much like Clean Air Minnesota’s partners, Mr. Droessler brings experience and perspective from all sides of the issues. Bill Droessler has worked on environmental issues for major international corporations, state and federal agencies and nonprofits. Prior work experience includes environmental law for the Zurich American Insurance Company, Program Director for Minnesota Public Interest Research Group, and Director of Outreach and Programming for 1000 Friends of Minnesota. He holds a BA in Government and History from Beloit College and a law degree from the Environment and Energy Law Program at Chicago Kent - College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology.
