Description:	Understanding your Agency�s Carbon Footprint How would you begin if you were asked to determine your agency�s carbon footprint? Are you looking for ways to improve sustainability and reduce greenhouse gas production? This program presents an overview of the tools available to calculate carbon footprint, an explanation of trading carbon credits, and discussion of pending governmental regulations regarding emission of greenhouse gases. Practical examples of methods used to calculate carbon emissions will be included as well as tried-and-true methods to reduce your agency�s energy use and greenhouse gas production. You�ll come away with valuable information on identifying which carbon footprint reduction alternatives fit the needs of your agency. After viewing this program, participants will better be able to: � Describe the meaning of the term "carbon footprint" and how accepted protocols are used to calculate greenhouse gas emissions � Understand the tools available to calculate carbon footprint � Identify which carbon footprint reduction alternatives may be applicable to their needs This program has been approved for .2 CEUs or 2 PDHs. The form to request these credits is included in the handouts for this program. Please note there is a $5 fee per individual requesting CEUs.
Speaker:	Wayne McFarland, P.E., CEM, CRM, LEED AP Vice President Stearns & Wheler GHD Cazenovia, NY Wayne McFarland, P.E., DEE, Vice President of Stearns & Wheler GHD, is a graduate of Cornell University (BS), the University of California, Berkeley (MS) , and LeMoyne College (MBA), and is a licensed professional engineer in 13 states.. He is a Certified Energy Manager, a certified Carbon Reduction Manager, and an LEED Accredited Professional. He has directed a wide variety of renewable energy and sustainability projects for municipal and industrial clients, primarily focused on biomass to energy projects at wastewater treatment plants and landfills. He has conducted several carbon inventory assessments for municipal and industrial facilities.
Speaker:	Keith Reester Director of Public Works City of Loveland, CO Keith Reester has been with the City of Loveland, Colorado, for over 5 years. His prior work was in private sector as a consultant to a national client base in the design and construction industries. He also has worked with waste management in Boston and throughout New England. Keith also served as the Public Works Deputy Director in Binghamton, NY. In 2007, Keith spent five weeks in Australia representing the United States on behalf of the American Public Works Association and the Eisenhower Institute as a Randolph Jennings Fellow. In December, he was named a 2007 Industry Trendsetter by Public Works Magazine for his work on replacing the Baby Boomers in the technical workforce.
