“The Trophy Kids in the Workplace: How the Millennial generation is impacting the workplace.”
September 23, 2010
Call begins at 11:00 a.m. Pacific/12 Noon Mountain/1:00 Central Daylight/2:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Do you have any “Trophy Kids” working in your department? Who are these kids and why do they think that works should be all fun, games and social networking? Ron Alsop, columnist for the Wall Street Journal, has written a book titled “The Trophy Kids Grow Up”, which sheds light on the major differences between the work styles of Generation X and Generation Y employees. This call will focus on sharing these differences and the effect this generation of workers is having in our working environments.
This topic should provide good insight into working with multiple generations in the same environment and give suggestions for how to make your workplace operate efficiently and still involve everyone in the process. Invite staff members and supervisors to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about this topic and set the stage for further discussions in your own staff meetings.
The call will be approximately 90 minutes in length.
Presenters this month will include:
- George Haines, Program Director, Northern Wyoming Community College District, Gillette, WY
- Dan Hartman, Public Works Director, Golden, CO
- Hesha Gamble, County Engineer, County of Greenville, SC
- Jeffery Brown, Engineering and Infrastructure Manager, Fayetteville, NC
The call is Free. This is an audio call and can be taken from your desk or from a speaker phone in your conference room with staff members sharing the call and then discussing the topic afterwards. The call is also available to download to an MP3 player within 48 hours.
