Humble Beginnings — Unlimited Potential
The "Humble Beginnings --- Unlimited Opportunities" session will feature a presentation by four APWA members who have experienced growth in either their personal career field or moved up through the organizational ranks within APWA. The speakers will share their experiences and offer suggestions to others. Jerry Way began as a mechanic and is now the Fleet Manager for Sacramento, CA; Jim Proce began as a draftsman and has now completed two degrees and is the Public Works Director for Palm Bay, FL; Patty Hilderbrand is an Engineer with the City of Kansas City, MO who has gotten heavily involved with APWA at the Chapter level and is now an At Large Director on the APWA Board; and Robert Albee, Boston, MA, began his career in public works and immediately developed an interest in serving at all levels of APWA organization, eventually becoming President.
We believe their stories of both success and failure along the way will be helpful to those wanting to advance their careers in public works. Hope this helps.
