"Communications Across the Gender Gap."
Call begins at 11:00 a.m. Pacific/12 Noon Mountain/1:00 Central Daylight/2:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Our previous mentoring call addressed diversity issues at the generational level. Join us this time for a discussion of gender issues with regards to communication. Have there been misunderstandings in your agency resulting from communications between men and women which impede effective communication? Whether it be a misunderstanding either from the language used or the style of communication, oftentimes the mistake is in assuming people will behave according to a pattern or preconceived stereotype
Learn how to change your communication and management style to accommodate individuals without talking about differences, being inclusive without labeling. The result of this discussion should be some tips for male and female managers to encourage discussions with your staff about “what to do” and “what not to do” when communicating and managing diversity in the workplace.
The call will be approximately 60 minutes in length.
The Presenter this month is:
- Donal F. Hartman, Jr., J.D., LL.M. Program Director, School of Graduate and Continuing Studies, Norwich University
