APWA National’s 2010-2011 Live Workshops
Would your Chapter like to host a live workshop? APWA National is planning four live workshop events for fiscal year 2010-2011 and is now accepting proposals through Wednesday, September 15th, 2010, from Chapters interested in hosting these workshops. Workshop events currently available for proposals include:
- One Fleet Management workshop opportunity
- One Stormwater workshop opportunity
- Two Construction Inspection workshop opportunities
Full descriptions of these workshops are included as PDFs below. This is an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality training in your area with minimal effort on your part.
APWA offers three Certification programs that provide individuals with valuable credentials that demonstrate professionalism, expertise and leadership: Certified Stormwater Manager (CSM); Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII); Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP).
By offering one of the above workshops at the chapter level, you will provide an opportunity to those individuals interested in obtaining training and information prior to taking part in a certification program or to those individuals seeking continuing education for recertification. (For more information about Certification, visit: www.apwa.net/certification.
If your Chapter would like to host one of these workshop events, please include the following information in your proposal:
- Identify the workshop your Chapter is interested in hosting (i.e. Fleet, Stormwater, or Construction Inspection).
- Identify and provide pricing for a public agency or non-hotel training facility in which to hold the workshop. This facility should have easy access to lodging and also have the ability to hold up to 60 participants in a classroom-style seating arrangement (i.e. tables or desks)
- Identify and provide pricing information for an AV projector and screen that can be used or rented for the workshop.
- Identify and provide pricing for a local caterer to bring in boxed lunches (i.e. sandwich, chips, cookie), coffee and soda.
- Provide marketing assistance for the workshop including featuring the workshop in any chapter newsletters and announcing the program at local chapter meetings and any other suitable functions.
- Provide one representative to be available both full days to manage on-site check-in and registrations each day. This representative will receive the workshop training and student manual free of charge.
APWA National will:
- Provide an expert instructor for the course
- Cover costs for the workshop including instructor travel and fees and all meeting facility arrangements, including food and beverage and AV equipment rental
- Negotiate all contracts with the facility, speakers and/or food service
- Provide national marketing of the workshop.
- Handle registrations through headquarters in Kansas City.
- Arrange for delivery of student manuals to workshop training facility for attendees as part of their registration fee.
Revenue:
The Chapter will receive $500. Should APWA cancel the workshop due to low enrollment, this option will not be available to the Chapter. Payment to the Chapter will be made after the workshop is completed.
