American Public Works Association and Its Predecessor Organizations
The American Public Works Association was formed by the consolidation, in 1937, of the American Society of Municipal Engineers,
(formerly the American Society for Municipal Improvements, which was founded in 1894), and the International Association of
Public Works Officials (formerly the International Association of Street Sanitation Officials, which was founded in 1920).
