Frequently Asked Questions
The registration fee covers one computer hook-up per location. You can have several people in the office or conference room view the
program, but the rate is based per site/computer connection. The same goes for the audio connection.
No. Web-based Trainings are copyright of the American Public Works Association. However, we record the CDs and sell them. They are
available for purchase after the program at www.apwa.net/education/web or in the APWA bookstore.
Yes, but be very wary of the audio system. Make sure it is compatible with handling telephone input and can deliver quality audio at an
adequate volume level. For this, please either test the system, or work directly with an IT specialist at the facility. With streaming
audio, you do not need a telephone input just speakers connected to the computer.
Genesys' new conferencing service is firewall transparent. This means that you are viewing the program like a regular web page. For
more information visit www.genesys.com.
Pop-up blocking and virus scanning software may interfere with your ability to connect to the Internet portion of the program and
sometimes it can interfere with the streaming audio. All you have to do is disable it, and you will be able to view the program.
Check with your IT department for details.
You do not need special software to participate in a Web-based training, just an up-to-date browser.
Please close your browser. Reopen it, and go to www.apwa.net. Click on the Web-based Training logo and
enter the meeting number when asked. From there carefully enter your meeting number.
Be patient you are almost there. If the left control panel with the Q&A box appears with this phrase, the slides will come up shortly.
If they do not come up, repeat the log-in process. If that doesn't work, please call Genesys technical support at 800-305-5208.

At any time during the program, you may type a question in the "Chat" box. It is somewhat like being in a chat room on the Internet,
only the audience cannot see your question. It is submitted to the moderator and presenters of the program, and then addressed during
the Q&A segments. There will be a slide on "how to submit a question" at the beginning of each program.
You will download and print them out from a special link to the APWA website. This will either be sent in the instruction email for
connecting to the broadcast, or a separate email a few days before the program.
You can log in to the program as early as one hour before the start time. This will give you time to troubleshoot if needed. However,
you should run the proper pre-session tests before the day of the program to avoid last minute problems.
Web-based Training programs are three hours long. Please make sure you are clear on the start times and what time zone you are
in since they are live programs.
No. The toll-free phone number we use is accessible from Canada.
If you are using a different computer for the broadcast than the one you received your email invitation/instruction on, all you
have to do is print off a copy of the email with the information. Rather than clicking on the link to join the conference, you will
just go to the APWA home page www.apwa.net, click on the Web-based Training icon, and follow your
printed instructions.
Call the APWA education department at 800-848-2792 immediately and someone will send you the instructions. You will need to
